Ruddington’s main transport operator has announced the welcome news that the New Year will begin with significantly cheaper travel aboard our village buses.
Nottingham City Transport (NCT) Navy 3 and Green 10 bus passengers will benefit from a 20% cut in its single fares throughout January, February and March 2023 thanks to the government funded ‘Help for Households’ initiative.
The standard adult single from Ruddington to Nottingham (and vice versa) will be reduced from £2.50 to £2.00. Customers who usually buy a £4.70 all-day ticket for a return journey will be able to pay just £4.00 per day by changing to buying a single ticket on both buses they catch each day during this three month period.
The maximum single fare for any journey across all NCT’s network during the first quarter of 2023 will also be £2, including on routes through to Loughborough, Southwell and Woodborough. In the Outer Area, all Adult and Under 19 single fares that are currently over £2 will be charged at the promotional £2 fare, too.
These reduced NCT fares will be available to purchase using:
- Contactless on the bus – where customers just tap their card or device on the reader and the fares are deducted automatically at the end of the day
- NCTX Buses app
- Cash – exact fare required
- Robin Hood Pay As You Go cards
“NCT already offers some of the lowest bus fares in Britain” reveals the bus operator’s Managing Director David Astill. “Even so, we are still missing some of our customers who haven’t returned to travelling by bus post-pandemic and we hope that this attractive fares promotion, funded by the government, will entice those missing people back on board.“
The Government’s Buses Minister, Richard Holden, says: “Bus travel remains the most popular form of public transport in England, making up around half of all journeys. That’s why we’re investing £60 million to cap single bus fares at £2 to support every passenger and help get people back on the bus. With the scheme set to take two million car journeys off the road, it’s fantastic to see so many bus operators signing up to the fare cap, helping people to ‘Get Around for £2’ between the 1st January and 31st March.”
NCT advises that all single fares which are already lower than £2 – and all its other tickets, such as day tickets, Easyrider and longer term mobile tickets – will remain at their current prices.
